While the impact of the sharing economy on the business world continues to grow, the pioneers of this trend recently gathered at an event in Istanbul. Leaders who have built and succeeded with their companies in the sharing economy discussed the present business dynamics and shed light on tomorrow.
TURKEY - The impact of the sharing economy trend, which opens the door to direct communication between consumers and service providers, has recently grown in the business world. Those who pioneered this trend recently came together at an event held at Istanbul's Akmerkez in a strategic partnership between Filo Broker, Smartoffice, and TikTak. Sponsored by Nissan, the event featured individuals who have built and succeeded with their companies in the sharing economy, providing insights into future business trends. They emphasized the importance of companies looking to strengthen themselves to be prepared for transformation and sharing.
Moderated by Akan Abdula, the Founder of FutureBright, the event saw discussions on the transformative power of the sharing economy in the business world by Ersan Öztürk, the Founder of TikTak, Serap Köprülü, the Founder of Smartoffice, and Ali Halabi, the Founder of Volt Lines. Journalist, Television Presenter, and Economist Cem Seymen shed light on the history and present of the sharing economy and made predictions.
Ersan Öztürk, the Founder of TikTak, explained that their fleet of 4,000 vehicles in Istanbul serves both as company vehicles and an important fringe benefit solution. He shared his predictions for 2024 as follows: "The sharing economy market, which is expected to close 2023 at $150 billion, is estimated to reach $800 billion by 2031. We know that transportation expenses are the highest cost item for most organizations today after employee salaries. Therefore, I believe that companies will need the solutions the sharing economy offers more for their transportation expenses. I predict that, especially in Turkey, companies will implement stricter cost-saving measures in 2024 due to economic conditions."
Serap Köprülü, the Founder of Smartoffice, shared her thoughts on the sharing economy: "The number of small businesses is rapidly increasing worldwide. Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of new people have started their businesses. Many people who used to work for a single company now divide their working hours among different companies or jobs. In other words, employees are also becoming part of the sharing economy. However, we are still at the beginning of this transformation. With the Alpha generation entering the economy, the transformation will accelerate, and all sectors must adapt. Since 2010, with my 'Smart Office' initiative, I support those who want to join this ecosystem by providing services in nearly 20,000 square meters across 12 different locations."
Alu Halabi, the Founder of "Smart Employee Transportation Platform" Volt Lines, which offers corporate solutions to major cities' traffic problems, stated, based on their industry, "The hybrid working model has completely transformed employee transportation services. Efficient planning of services has become challenging, leading to idle movements. This has caused significant inefficiency and sustainability issues. Our main goal at Volt Lines is to fill empty seats. Specifically for this problem, we have developed a reservation-based corporate transportation system. With 400 vehicles in Istanbul and Ankara, we transport an average of 4,500 employees daily. In doing so, we provide companies with a more cost-effective solution and contribute to sustainable urban living with lower carbon emissions."
