In addition, evaluations were made on projects such as “Safe Tourism” and “Safe Event Development".
TEFED President Yıldırım emphasized that the event sector covers many areas of social life and said, “This sector, which affects many important moments in our lives from birth to death, consists of 100 thousand business owners and professional sector workers. We are talking about a sector that creates employment for 2.5 million people together with all stakeholders. We have nearly 350 non-governmental organizations and associations representing the sector and 3 federations. We are establishing the event confederation with the support of the sector representative associations and federations. Under the confederation, we send messages of unity, solidarity and cooperation to both state officials and industry professionals. We will create an important power as the Confederation. With this power, we will offer solutions to the sector.”
Yıldırım shared the following information; “We established TEODER with a large staff of 41 people on September 25, 2020 in order to become a federation and then a confederation. We aimed to create the biggest lobby of the event sector by being confederated. During this period, we established three federations: the Anatolian Invitation and Event Federation (ADEF), the Aegean Invitation and Event Federation (EDEF), and the Whole Event Sector Federation (TEFED). We are experiencing the pride and joy of establishing the Entire Event Sector Confederation (TESKON) for a short time under the leadership of these three federations, and establishing the largest lobby and umbrella organization of the event sector. Our sector representative has added support and strength to our formation. We will share the confederation's road map with you as soon as possible.”
Erol Yıldırım stated that there are many actors in the sector from culture and art venues to wedding halls, from decorations to supply organizers and continued as follows; “We need to find solutions to the problems of our industry, which is in a difficult situation in the pandemic, as soon as possible. We would like to clarify some points regarding short-time work allowance, rent support and other supports. We do pre-reservation work. For this reason, we expect exceptional industry-based supports, at least until our jobs are opened.”
Providing information about the “Safe Tourism Project”, Yıldırım said, “Within the scope of the project, we aim to provide the healthiest service with every component from hotels to businesses in the tourism sector, from personnel to equipment. In this way, we aim to benefit the sub-sectors that make up the sector components and the customers who are the end service users. We have started to work on the structuring and implementation of the Safe Event Project, which covers the whole sector, as soon as possible. We believe in the power of masks, distance and hygiene. We hope to revive the sector by implementing our Safe Activity Project in a short time.”
