ISTANBUL (TR) - Until 2019, when COVID-19 cases were first seen in the world, more than 32 thousand events and fairs were organized each year, with an average of 4.5 million participating companies and over 303 million visitors. The fairs, which play an important role in the commercial relations of many sectors from automotive to defense, from food to communication technologies, faced cancellation this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and the risk of contamination in physical spaces. In this process, virtual fairs came to the rescue of the sectors. According to the latest data of The Global Exhibition Barometer research prepared by the Global Fair Industry Association UFI twice a year, 82 percent of the companies around the world agree to focus on digital elements in sectoral events and fairs. A segment of 17 percent is of the opinion that digital fairs will replace physical events they will organize in the upcoming periods.

Making evaluations about the global fair industry, Yusuf Yenitürkoğulları, the founder of the Digital Fair Platform ExpoValley, said, “Digital fairs, which bring the fair experience to the virtual environment, have become almost the only way to make these relationships sustainable rather than trying to add color to their commercial relations during the pandemic period. Thanks to the advantages it offers, it has become increasingly common. The course of this table will prevent the expected 70% contraction that the pandemic will cause in the fair sector.”

Cost and efficiency are at the forefront for the sectors

Referring to the changes in the priorities of the sectors in critical processes such as the pandemic that brings economic fluctuations, Yusuf Yenitürkoğulları said, “We see that the fluctuating course of the pandemic creates an atmosphere dominated by uncertainty in the professional field. This brings the sectors to the forefront of cost and efficiency in every step that will add value to them. The same sensitivities underlie the trend towards digital fairs. Without any time-space limit, many manufacturers, exporters and solution partners from Turkey and other countries can communicate with each other with a single click. Thus, while many costs such as transportation, catering and accommodation are eliminated, the efficiency of the fairs can be measured in a data-oriented manner thanks to the digital infrastructure offered.”

It is possible to digitize the fair experience close to reality.

Drawing attention to the fact that solutions suitable for the needs of the age play a determining role in the continuity of the sectors, Yusuf Yenitürkoğulları said, "We, as the ExpoValley Digital Fair Platform, help both fair and event organizers and companies that want to organize their own fair to organize events with the features they want and the design according to their needs, thanks to the digital fairs designed with 3D Technology, we help our visitors get the most realistic fair experience, from live translation service to online stands, from one-to-one meetings to product promotion. Our aim is to make fairs that are of great importance in the development of the sectors in line with the needs of the age and to contribute to the commercial relations of the sectors.”
